Delta V Applications

Delta V applications have been a growing portion of our LTG output. While the research nature of the final configurations preclude photography, general details are permissible. LTG has completed 8 separate Delta V systems for Rohm and Haas in Spring house.

The systems included data history and control as well as operator graphics in a laboratory/small scale pilot plant setting. The I/O count of each of these systems was on the order of 150 I/O (mostly analog instrumentation). The systems were integrated with panels designed to fit into existing spaces and even included cable track adjusted touch screens for the operators.

Delta V has also been applied, through S Cubed of LTG in a small scale manufacturing Rohm and Haas facility in North Andover, Massachusetts. This particular installation has approximately 400 I/O and numerous wire saving techniques ( ASIbus, Profibus and Foundation Fieldbus). The system was supported by a correctly applied UPS so that the operation could continue safely in event of power interruption. This system in particular was special in that the product is pyrophoric.

Key LTG personnel have been trained in official DV schools for basic implementation and batch operation. Other associates have had DV experience through other companies in various applications.

Reinstrumentation

Reinstrumentation and specific reconfiguration of pilot plant equipment has also been a mainstay of LTG. Examples of this are the changes made to two pilot plants.

In one pilot plant, the new process required automatic recording, status (process step) switching and monitoring so that a call list would be executed on process alarms.

In another pilot plant the Central Engineering group designed the Delta V application for the change and S Cubed participated with the analysis to make sure that the switch over was seamless and that no nuances of the previous control system were overlooked. In addition small changes to the pilot plant were supported by S Cubed and Innoventive Engineering so progressive reconfiguration was continuous.

The cost to do these modifications was tightly controlled and S Cubed and Innoventive Engineering developed the cost estimates to make sure that the equipment utilized was within budget.

Packaged Portable Units

Packaged, portable units (skid mounted systems) have been designed and manufactured. Specifically filtration and portable wash units are now in place at Rohm and Haas as a result of Innoventive Engineering and S Cubed Labs.

The advantages to a system using portable units is that when not in use floor space can be recovered and also floor space is easily reconfigured. In addition, LTG has the capability to manufacture this type of equipment to the highest standards and deliver a completed unit only requiring final hookup for use.

The costs for this service are very competitive.

Facilities

Facilities for labs and manufacturing areas are also one of LTG's concerns when designing labs. The group has extensive experience in state of the art lab/facility construction from the concept phase to commissioning.

LTG has provided practical input to building projects, working side by side with scientisits and technicians to get the biggest "bang for the buck".

An example of this is the ongoing support of lab facilities for Rohm and Haas laboratories, which by their nature are destined to change. And facilities are part of those changes.

Project Management

Project management is a skill that comes with the professional experience and practical growth. LTG has a depth in project management that is superior because we have extensive project construction history.

Our engineers are fully qualified to lead construction groups in planning, problem solving, budget and manpower management and commissioning. This skill requires an engineer that is comfortable with field work as well as background. Field work is a mainstay at LTG.

Our project management has included labs, manufacturing, central facilities, and even telecommunications.
